Bio

I’m a trans-disciplinary visual and installation artist, sculptor, programmer and healer.

I invoke not only the psychological and physical pain I have experienced in my childhood through bullying from 5 to 19 years old but also the pain and discrimination, both historical and contemporary, in Korea and, by extension, political and social situations around the world through my work.

However, instead of focusing on the dark side, I’m looking at the bright moments of it in what I have experienced.

I aim to decolonize and purify the spaces I’m in by making the experiences of subjugated groups central to my work. Through sharing experiences to overcome my history of being the victim of bullying, struggling with mental disorders, dealing with discrimination as a non-binary and attempting suicide nine times since 9 years old, I’m in turn making spaces for others to share their stories and heal through my meditative, spiritual, and ritual based performance and installation work.

Moreover, working with computational mediums such as VR, AR, and Physical computing made the limitation of space and time an invalid obstacle.

I have exhibited sculpture, performance and VR/AR in South Korea and the US gallery spaces, including Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 1708 Gallery, the Anderson, Depot, Black Iris in Richmond and Hidden M Gallery, Gosaek Newseum in Korea. I have done a residency in Vermont Studio Center with a fellowship and became a part of the jury for Apexart and Vermont Studio Center. And also participated in Guadalupe Maravilla's performances as a videographer and performer at Whitney Museum and Bronx Museum.

I'm a Chief Creative Officer at Pronum Inc in Korea and a founder of VR-HotLine Non-Profit Organization.

I received a BFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University and a MPS in Interactive Telecommunication Program from NYU with Full Scholarship.
