One rainy day / 2016

Medium : wood, paint, resin, water, water pump

Size : 72 x 48 x 156 (inch)

In this piece, I introduced the space where I tried to commit suicide for the first time and the rain that came to stop me. Water is powerful for the way it can forgive you, even if you have no forgiven yourself. Rain does not come because you asked for it. It comes when it decides to come. The rain decided to come for me at nine years old as I stood on a ledge ready to end my life. First I only had the clouds above me to speak to. Then the rain came to wash over my body, to purify my darkness, to make my body light enough to live inside of. In this performance, I captured the struggle I had that night and conversed I had with the rain. Most importantly I captured the moment that helped me to continue living. I captured the forgiveness of the rain that became of friend to me in order to give it to others so that they may find forgiveness and the voice they need to help them choose to live.
